Angel's Gate is a residential, non-profit hospice and rehabilitation animal home and sanctuary. Here, animals who are terminally and critically ill or physically challenged come to live out their days in peace, dignity and love. They become a part of the Angel's Gate household. Most are free to roam their home and run in the spacious yard. Angel's Gate Hospice & Rehabilitation Center is located at "The Island of Enchantment" on the beautiful north shore of Long Island. Our focus is on wellness and quality of life. We provide for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each animal. We take a holistic approach to caring, giving all needed supportive care. There is no fee for hospice care. We depend solely on contributions.

Outofthepits.org

Out of the Pits is a non-profit corporation founded in 1996 to address the plight of the Pit Bull. We seek to make the public aware that the Pit Bull– not long ago America's favorite dog– has become the world's most misunderstood breed.

Inherently intelligent, loving and loyal to a fault, the breed once known as the "children's nursemaid" has only recently fallen into the hands of a criminal subculture that uses systematic brutality to force the dogs to fight or "guard" drugs.

Petfinder.com

"From the comfort of their own homes, pet seekers can find out who is available for adoption at local shelters or they can use the "search" function to see a distance-sorted list of pets that meet their specific needs like size, gender, breed and age. Updated continuously by the shelter volunteers and staff themselves, the site gives potential adopters a picture, a description of the animal, and contact information." - Petfinder.com

CRIMINAL ANIMAL ABUSE & NEGLECT:
-If Criminal Charges Have Not Yet Been Filed: If you have information about an animal abuse or neglect case and criminal charges have not yet been filed, please report your information immediately to your local law enforcement agency, and to your local humane society, animal control department or SPCA. Additionally, if you witnessed the abuse or neglect, please file a complaint with your local law enforcement agency and demand that an investigation be completed. ALDF does not have an investigative unit, so it is imperative that local authorities fully investigate the case.
-If Criminal Charges Have Been Filed: If you have information about an animal abuse or neglect case and criminal charges have already been filed, please send an email to action1@aldf.org with the following information: Defendant's name, a brief description of the crime, when and where the crime occurred (city, county, state), and the name and phone number of the prosecutor (if known) assigned to the case. Second, contact the people or agencies who oversee the shelter and provide them with the your information. This is often the sheriff's department, city council, mayor or city manager. Photographs, video, and other evidence of the abusive conditions are helpful and persuasive. If the overseeing agency is non-responsive, consider circulating a petition demanding that the abusive conditions be immediately corrected. Consider enlisting the help of the local media (newspapers, radio and television stations) to publicize the situation. Remember, animals in these situations are wholly reliant on your voice to protect their interests.
